금속 소재를 활용해 기존 윷가락 4개를 간결한 조형으로 재구성하고자 했다. 작은 요소들이 합쳐져 하나의 조형을 이루고, 다시 흩어져 각자의 기능을 하는 형태로 분리된다. 분해와 조립이 가능한 디자인 덕분에 사용자는 윷놀이를 준비하는 과정에서도 즐거움을 느끼고, 보관과 휴대 또한 용이하다. 마주 보는 두 개의 반원봉은 윷가락으로, 이 둘을 결합하고 고정하는 캡은 윷말로 사용된다.
여기서 '사계’는 한국 전통 윷놀이의 '말의 길'(말길)을 계절에 비유한 것에서 영감을 받았다. 이 말길은 각각의 계절과 연결지어 윷의 등 면에 보여진다. 각 윷가락에 스텐실 기법을 활용해 사계를 그려내었으며, 윷놀이의 꽃이라 볼 수 있는 백도의 상징성과 중요도를 고려하여 그 표식을 사용자가 직접 윷가락에 아로새기는 행위를 유도했다.
I've reimagined the traditional set of four yut sticks using metal materials, presenting a simple and refined structure. The design consists of smaller elements that come together to form a single entity and can be disassembled into individual components with distinct functions. This detachable and reassembling design not only enhances the enjoyment of preparing for a game of yut but also makes storage and portability convenient. Two semicircular rods facing each other serve as the yut sticks, and the caps that connect and secure these rods are used as yut markers.
Here, "Sage" is inspired by the path of the 'game markers' (mal-gil) in traditional Korean yut-nori, likened to the changing seasons. This path is depicted on the back of each yut stick, each associated with a different season. Using a stencil technique, the four seasons are illustrated on each yut stick, and considering the symbolism and importance of the 'Baekdo' flower in yut-nori, users are encouraged to engrave its emblem on the yut sticks themselves.
